$350,000 Settlement – Dog Attack – Left Arm Laceration with Muscular Injury

Attorney Kevin Smith secured a $350,000 settlement for a 51-year-old client from Massachusetts, who sustained a severe and traumatic dog bite to her left arm in Pomfret, Connecticut.

Our client was attacked and bitten on her left arm by a maremma sheepdog outside of the dog owners' home.  The dog did not release our client’s arm for approximately 1-2 minutes while the owners tried to pry the dog's jaws off her arm – almost resorting to a hammer.  Our client suffered severe injuries to her left arm; specifically, e.g., a 9-inch forearm laceration and associated muscular injury.  She underwent occupational therapy and physical therapy, and had permanent scarring to her left arm.

The case involved multiple challenges.  There was a dispute as to whether the client was told to stay away from the dog before the attack occurred.  Attorney Smith successfully established through deposition testimony of the dog owners that our client was the innocent victim and the dog attacked her without any provocation.
